Social Justice Field Trip
Birmingham Civil Rights Institute
January 10, 2020
Please join the Coalition of Black Social Workers Student Organization for our second annual social justice field trip! This year, we will travel to Birmingham on Friday, January 10, 2020 to visit the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. Tickets for the museum and luch will be purchased by the College of Social Work.
The tour of the museum will begin by 10:00am CST and the takes approximately 1.5 hours. Please note: backpacks are not permitted in the museum, so please plan accordingly. Following the tour, we will travel up the road to Samford University to debrief and process our experience over lunch.
From Knoxville
If you would like to carpool, please meet at Henson Hall at 6:30am EST. We will depart promptly at 7:00am and return to Knoxville by 6:30pm.
From Nashville
If you would like to carpool, pleast meet at the Nashville campus at 6:00am. We will depart at 6:30am and return to Nashville by 5:30pm. (Those traveling from Nashville will make one stop for breakfast on the road and each individual is responsible for paying for their own.)

- If you will volunteer to drive, and if so, how many passengers you can take
- If you have any dietary restrictions
- What location you’re traveling from
If you volunteer to drive (and you’re selected to drive), your mileage will be reimbursed by the University.
