Dr. Kelly Martin Accepted into Course Redesign Institute

Kelly Brooke Martin, PhD
Dr. Kelly Martin

Dr. Kelly Martin has been accepted into the Teaching and Learning Innovation Course Redesign Institute this spring.

The Institute is designed to bring together faculty from across the university to share ideas from their own pedagogies with one another and to participate in a focused track to redesign one of their courses. In conjunction with the Institute, Martin recently received her Inclusive Teaching Certification, which accommodates and embraces students’ diverse learning styles, learning needs, and prior experiences. By establishing a welcoming learning environment and adopting a variety of teaching methods, it helps students connect to and engage more in the learning content and community. This certification, as well as the Institute, will allow Martin to contribute to the BSSW curriculum revision this summer.

Additionally, Martin has been awarded a mini grant through the Division of Diversity and Engagement for The Equity Academy, which is her interdisciplinary social justice training workshop. The grant will fund the tools and resources necessary to disseminate the training online. Dr. Camille Hall will join Martin in the effort. The grant will help further the College of Social Work’s commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion.
