The Social Work Teaching Summit was organized around teaching principles that were generated by outstanding UT faculty. The overarching goal of the summit was for participants to develop a personally relevant teaching mission that would guide their teaching practice and interactions with students.
Participants worked on:
• Developing their own personal teaching mission as it relates to the teaching principles
• Identify practices that facilitate approachability, empathy, and respect between instructors and students
• Create alignment between course content, activities, and assessment such that it produces high levels of student learning.
• Develop a plan for systematic reflection and feedback on their teaching
• Identify ways to build trust between themselves, their colleagues and their students
