Food Justice
Our team investigates the complex issues surrounding food access, nutrition, and equity within diverse communities. We analyze the social and economic factors that influence food insecurity—including availability of healthy options, affordability, and systemic barriers—to inform programs and policies that promote food sovereignty. By partnering with local organizations and advocating for sustainable solutions, we strive to create fairer food systems that ensure all individuals have consistent access to nutritious food and the opportunity to lead healthy lives.

Welfare Reform and Economic Justice
We explore the impacts of welfare policies on economic stability, mobility, and wellbeing among vulnerable populations. Our research evaluates the effectiveness of welfare reforms—examining how changes in policy affect access to support services, employment opportunities, and long-term financial security. By centering the experiences of those most affected by policy shifts, we develop recommendations that promote economic justice, reduce poverty, and empower individuals and families to achieve greater independence.

Research Labs and Centers
Several of our college’s research center and faculty-led research labs are involved with studying issues in equity and disparities.
