The AlignCare Journey in Pet Health From Academia to Action

AlignCare and the Program for Pet Health Equity (PPHE) at the University of Tennessee recently released their report, The AlignCare Journey in Pet Health From Academia to Action (https://tiny.utk.edu/AlignCareJourney) detailing the research, development, and testing of AlignCare in collaboration with multiple investigators, community partners, and funders.

AlignCare, a pioneering and innovative One Health system, supports families and communities with limited means by providing access to veterinary care. This transformative system helps ensure families receive comprehensive care by aligning community funding, resources, and activities into a cohesive, collaborative system, which more efficiently reduces disparities in family health. Thanks to Maddie’s Fund and the Program for Pet Health Equity (PPHE) at the University of Tennessee, AlignCare offers a pathway to this future by providing a comprehensive, community based One Health system that aligns resources and services to support families holistically.

“I am delighted to witness our vision for AlignCare taking shape and communities adopting this One Health system to support bonded families,” Dr Michael Blackwell, Founder and Director of PPHE noted. “Together, we can develop aligned communities where every family prospers.”

“The love of a pet should not be a privilege, and neither should access to health and veterinary care,” said Amy Zeifang, Board Chair, Maddie’s Fund. “AlignCare is helping to make sure all members of the family get the care they need and deserve, regardless of circumstances. We are proud to support this work.”

UT President Randy Boyd acknowledged “This work is transformational, illustrating the interdependence of human, pet, and environmental health, with a focus on enhancing the lives of our underserved communities.”
