OVERVIEW
This workshop will define an organizational crisis and underscore the importance of the response in such events to the organization, employees, community, and stakeholders. Participants will learn different leadership styles and how to apply these based on the organization’s culture. Participants will consider strategies for communication and impression management, and the presenter will share lessons learned from the “School of Hard Knocks,” based on organizational crisis responses in her own organization.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
As a result of attending this presentation, participants will be able to:
1. Define an organizational crisis, and at least two ways an organizational crisis will affect an organization, an employee, or other stakeholders;
2. Identify four different leadership styles, and which style is most appropriate to utilize in an organizational crisis based on the organization’s culture; and
3. Identify at least two strategies for communication and impression management during a crisis.

Social workers and others in supervisory, managerial, or other leadership roles; macro-level practitioners.
PRESENTER
Dr. Susan Okroglic is the President and CEO of Community Service, Inc. (CSI), in Morrilton, Arkansas. She completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Rehabilitation Science at Arkansas Tech University, her Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and her Doctoral Degree in Social Work, Clinical Practice and Leadership, at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, focusing her research in juvenile justice and diversion programs. She is a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Arkansas.
