The UTCSW is collaborating with HOLA Lakeway to introduce a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing family dynamics and communication skills.

The Strengthening Family Program (Familias Fuertes) is designed for youth aged 10-14 as well as for their parents, offering support and resources to strengthen family bonds.

Led by UTCSW Associate Professor Dr. Mary Held and PhD Student Eliza Galvez, along with Associate Dean Doug Coatsworth and Associate Professor Rob Lucio, the team understands the importance of partnerships that can make a significant difference in people’s lives.

“UT College of Social Work is thrilled to partner with HOLA Lakeway to help bring one of the most impactful programs for strengthening families to East Tennessee,” said UTCSW PhD student Eliza Galvez. “Together, we aspire to empower Latino families in the community with essential tools to build stronger bonds.”

The pilot phase of the program is set to commence in April 2024 marking the beginning of a transformative journey towards stronger family relationships and enhanced communication skills.
