Undergraduate Programs
There are two ways you can choose to get your Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) degree. The in-person program is on the Knoxville campus, or you can enroll in the online program. All curriculum and program requirements are identical for both programs.
Bachelor of Science in Social Work On Campus
The Bachelor of Science in Social Work degree (BSSW) is designed to educate students in generalist social work practice, which focuses on the reciprocal relationship between persons and their environments.
Bachelor of Science in Social Work Online
The online BSSW Program is specifically designed for transfer students with 60 transferable credit hours and an Associate of Art (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree from a regionally accredited community college.
Social Justice Minor
Additionally, the College of Social Work minor in Social Justice is open to undergraduate students from any major across the university. In collaboration with Sociology and Psychology, this minor is intended to address the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to engage in social justice practice.

Our BSSW advising team is dedicated to supporting students throughout their academic journey. They provide personalized guidance on course selection, field practice opportunities, and career preparation. Advisors work closely with students to help them achieve their academic and professional goals.

The BSSW Honors Program provides a small group of academically high-achieving social work majors with an enriching, engaging, and individualized undergraduate academic experience and an opportunity to earn both a BSSW and an MSSW degree in five years.
BSWO Student Organization
We are social work students and/or students interested in social work.
We are involved in advocacy, publicity, fundraising, community service, professional development, social events, and so much more!
Transfer Student Information
The UTCSW has GUARANTEED and PRIORITY admission for Tennessee Community Colleges transfer students to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) degree in our online BSSW program if certain requirements are met.
