Staff Spotlight- Margaret McMillan

Margaret McMillan has been working as a Continuing Education Coordinator for the college for a little over one year and just wrapped up many months of work for the very successful second annual eVolve Conference for the college.

What does your job entail?
I coordinate opportunities to meet the continuing education needs of professional social workers in Tennessee. These opportunities include our college’s annual conference, standalone virtual and in-person trainings, and our post-graduate certificate programs. My work helps the college fulfill its strategic plan commitments to prepare professional social workers, engage stakeholders, and diversify revenue sources.

What is your favorite part of the job?
It makes me happy to think that a training I coordinate could lead to better care for someone seeking behavioral health support or to a clinical practitioner successfully transitioning into a leadership role at their agency, as just two examples. I also like that I get to help alumni and other folks in the community engage with the college in new ways.

What do you like best about living and working in the Knoxville area?
My commute to work is short, which is always a plus! Also, many people I love live in Knoxville!

Anything else you would like to add?
I would love to collaborate! Reach out to me if you have a topic for a continuing education session or post-graduate certificate, want to lead a training or have a recommendation for a great presenter, or if you have any other neat ideas!
