Dr. Anne Conway Accepts Joint Position with UTHSC

Dr. Anne Conway, Urban Child Institute Endowed Professor, has accepted a joint position as an associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). Dr. Conway has also accepted an affiliation with Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis.  Dr. Conway’s primary appointment will remain with the UT College of Social Work.

Her primary role at UTHSC will be to facilitate her current research with the Family Resilience Initiative Group including Drs. Jon McCullers, Jason Yaun, and Sandra Arnold among others to address adverse childhood experiences and social determinants of health in families with young children in pediatric and community-based settings. She is particularly interested in parent and child sleep, mental health, nutrition, and food insecurity.

Her primary role with Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital will be to continue her research with Dr. Eraina Schauss and colleagues at the Brain Center who established the Trauma Mental Health Counseling Division within the Trauma Services  Department. With Dr. Eraina Schauss and colleagues, she has been conducting research on acute stress and mental health among children and youth in the Memphis and surrounding areas who have been victims of significant traumatic events such as gun violence.

“I am excited to formally join and have a secondary faculty appointment at the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Health Sciences Center and to become an affiliate of Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital,” Conway said. “The UTHSC Department of Pediatrics and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital are world-class organizations and I’m thrilled to collaborate with the outstanding faculty, clinicians, and community partners. These appointments will enhance my work with colleagues and stakeholders to address the urgent health, mental health, and educational needs of children and families in the Memphis community and contribute to the mission of the Urban Child Institute.”
