Ryan Murr has serves as the UTCSW Web Designer & IT Support. He is responsible for both the internal and external websites, as well as assisting with various IT issues within the college..

How long have you worked at the College of Social Work?
I started working at CSW in September of 2022.

What does your job entail?
I am responsible for the College of Social Work’s internal and external websites, doing our Google Ads, as well as some graphic design.  I design, build, and manage the content for the websites, assist with graphic design needs such as print work and digital ad creation, and build and run Google Ad campaigns to help advertise our college and recruit new students.

What is your favorite part of the job and/or favorite part of UT?
Being a UT alum (BFA Graphic Design ’19) coming back to UT felt like coming home to me. Since before graduating, I knew I wanted to come back and be a part of this organization, I just never would have guessed it would have happened so soon.

Also, my wife is an alum of the CSW, so I know how incredible social workers are. Being able to play even a small part in putting more social workers into the world and advancing the mission of social work is really special to me.

What do you like best about living and working in the Knoxville area?
Growing up in Maryville, Knoxville was always the place we went to run errands, have birthday parties, go to the mall, etc. But now, living in Knoxville, I get to enjoy all of the amazing amenities of the area. The great nature, awesome food, fun events, concerts, and great people. It’s a really dynamic little town with a lot to offer and I love it here.

What is an interesting fact about yourself?
I have always loved learning new things so over my life I have ended up with a plethora of random hobbies/skills. I used to be a YouTube Magician, I’ve learned 4 instruments (forgotten two of them though), was the lead singer of a band for a minute, studied Soil Science, was a Professional Barista for a little bit, won a state-wide Forensic Science competition, ran a woodworking/screen printing (what a combo) Etsy store for a few years. The list goes on. I pride myself on being mediocre at lots of things, but only good at a few of them. LOL

Anything else you’d like to add?
I have two amazing dogs that I would die for. I’ve watched all the Harry Potter movies more times than you could possibly count. (We recently took a trip to Universal/Wizarding World of Harry Potter for our fifth anniversary, and it was amazing.) I am a serial re-watcher of both The Office and Psych. My veins are filled with coffee instead of blood, I’m sure of it. I am sometimes painfully awkward, but I love making meaningful connections with people so stop by sometime!
