Zak Amen

Zak is a third-year PhD student from Plainfield, Illinois. He previously graduated from the University of Michigan with a MSW with a concentration in program evaluation and applied research. During his time at the University of Michigan, he worked both with the Program Evaluation Group (PEG) and did his field placement at the Center on Assets, Education, and Inclusion. In the College of Social Work here, Zak has furthered his research interests in homelessness and reproductive health and more broadly on life in Appalachia hoping to pursue a career in academia focusing on these three areas.

In his free time, Zak often travels to visit his partner in Winston-Salem, NC where she is in her last year of medical school and in the process of applying for residency programs. Zak also enjoys watching sports, and frisbee golf.

Feel free to contact me at, zamen@vols.utk.edu if you have any questions about the College of Social Work or interests in homelessness, reproductive health, or any of the other areas that he has worked in over the years.
