Yejin Heo

Yejin Heo is a PhD student in the College of Social Work at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Before starting her PhD program, she worked as a researcher focusing on aging and social welfare at the National Assembly Research Service and the Seoul Welfare Foundation, a public think tank in South Korea. Her research centers on health equity among older adults and their family caregivers. She is particularly interested in how social and structural factors influence the well-being of older adults, with a focus on sensory impairments associated with aging, such as age-related hearing loss, and how these conditions contribute to health disparities. She also examines how social and structural contexts shape the emotional and physical health of family caregivers who support older adults living with dementia. Her long-term goal is to contribute to the development of policies and practices that promote equitable support for aging populations.
