Working in the field of child welfare for over 10 years has made me aware of various gaps when it comes to policies set in place to protect the most vulnerable of all citizens, children. My area of interest is just that, child welfare on a macro scale and the polices set in place that depict how this system functions and serve equity disserving populations. I am particularly interested in Kinship arrangements when it comes to families who are and have been implicated with child welfare involvement and how policy impacts the success of these placements whether in the short term or long term when custodial rights need to change from that of the bio parents.
